The Design and Evaluation of Wide-Area Network Navigators for Education

The UNITE project is a research and development effort to establish an on time and user friendly means of delivering a full range of information resources to educators and students. The University of Kansas is developing a multimedia client called the Explorer as well as network server software which will allow teachers to search multimedia databases using browsing and text searching strategies. The goal of the project is to establish a user interface that is easy for teachers and students to use and one that is consistent with a variety of teaching styles. This is an evolving design process that benefits from the involvement of teachers from 50 school districts.
