Development of Passive RFID Tag System
Project Award Date: 02-23-2010
On-demand real time identification and tracking of assets using radio frequency identification (RFID) tags is a powerful technology for improving inventory applications related to both government and commercial sectors. Although there is a vast commercial industry working on RFID systems, the vulnerabilities of commercial products are only beginning to emerge. The two main challenges that the current commercial tags face are the limited lifetime of the active (battery powered) tags and the limited read range of passive tags.
ITTC researchers will conduct sponsored research on the design and specifications of components of a passive RFID system capable of long distance reads.
