Ice Thickness Measurements over the Antarctic Peninsula and Selected Outlet Glaciers
Project Award Date: 09-01-2004
ITTC researhers will conduct airborne radar soundings from a Chilean long-range aircraft and process and distribute the collected data. Researchers will use an improved coherent radar depth sounder and data processing algorithms developed as a part of an ongoing project funded by NASA. Specifically, they propose to collect data over peninsula and outlet glaciers to be identified by NASA and the Centro de Estudios Cientificos (CECS) for studying ice-sheet mass balance and glacier response to climate change. The results of this study will have application to the understanding of long-term climate change.
