Community Workshop on Computational Simulation and Visualization Environment of Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation (NEES)

The George E. Brown, Jr. Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation (NEES) Program is establishing a Collaboratory or program that will combine experimental, computational, communications, and curated repository system. This is being developed to support collaboration in earthquake engineering research and education. Researchers will create a community-backed plan for the inception of this program. NEES will host a Community Workshop on the Computational Simulation and Visualization Environment (CSVE).
NEES is intended to shift the emphasis of earthquake engineering research from current reliance on physical testing to integrated experimentation, computation, theory, databases, and model-based simulation. To enable this transformation, researchers must continue to develop a computational toolset for modeling, simulation, and visualization. The Community Workshop is designed to span across disciplines, bringing together researchers in geo-engineering, structural engineering, and tsunami engineering, with experts in high performance and network based computing. The primary objective of the proposed workshop is to develop a community-based plan for computational modeling, simulation, and visualization end-user software and hardware for Collaboratory development.
