ITTC Project
Radar Networking
Project Award Date: 09-30-2013
Description
ITTC research will investigate theoretical aspects of networked radar systems relevant to current and future sensing modalities. Specifically, the research will address how one or more radars can participate cooperatively with one another and other spectrum users, such as communication and navigation devices, within the same and/or nearby frequency bands. ITTC researchers will explore how these networked sensors can interact in order to maximize the amount of information sensed from the area under surveillance and minimize the interference from multiple RF modalities. The effort will leverage recent work on shared-spectrum radar, multi-user communications, and spectrally efficient waveform design for radar and communications. Researchers will address the fundamental requirements for "control channels" that allow the various RF users to be managed to adaptively control power levels, spatial coverage areas, spectral content, modulation format (i.e. waveforms), etc. in such a way as to
